President Donald Trump mocked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a fundraiser at his Washington hotel attended by top GOP donors and House Republicans.

On Tuesday night, Trump told the crowd on Tuesday night: “We need to win back the House to retire Nancy once and for all,” said an event organizer who declined to be named.

Although 115 GOP House members were initially expected to grace the event at the Trump International Hotel, 315 donors actually came with nearly each contributing more than $35,000 to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Take Back the House 2020 fundraising committee.

Overall, $13M was raised for a committee’s use to support Republicans in the next round of congressional elections.

According to political analysts like Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball, at least 12 Democratic House seats are up for toss-ups in the 2020 elections, with only five available for Republicans.

Close relations between House Republicans and Trump was again clearly shown on Tuesday night when the president declared his support for McCarthy whom he described as “tough, loyal, and smart”, as the next House Speaker.

In addition, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, whom Trump called a ‘great warrior’, was also commended for being a leading vocal opponent in the impeachment inquiry.

Furthermore, Trump also criticized how former President Barack Obama managed the captivity of Kayla Mueller who was killed by Islamic State fighters, and Otto Warmbier who died after returning to the United States in a vegetative condition after his arrest in North Korea.

The observer of the party also noted that the president even cited the recent death of Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, joking that the strike that killed the ISIS spokesman was extremely powerful that tires from the truck he was traveling in was found 6 miles away.

Although a spokesman for McCarthy confirmed the number of attendees and the funds that were raised from the event, no further comments were given. The Trump campaign and the White House also declined to comment, while reps for Pelosi did not return a request for comment.
