WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The United States of America’s first daughter, Ivanka Trump, followed US President Donald Trump to his state visit in India on February 24, 2020.
- She posed in front of famous landmarks beside her father and posted it on social media.
- American citizens responded to her photos, asking what national purpose is she serving in this state visit.
US President Donald Trump’s first state visit to India was naturally, bombarded with issues and questions. But this time, it’s about the first daughter, Ivanka Trump, who seemed to have just tagged along with his dad on this trip and take photos to post on her social media, got criticisms from the Americans asking, “what is she doing there”?
As if her being appointed as one of White House Senior Adviser by her president dad is not enough controversy — simply because she doesn’t have any political experience whatsoever. Her latest interview with Face The Nation has garnered a huge backlash for insisting that issues about the immigrants, specifically the separation of families and children who are locked up by the government – are, “not part of my portfolio”.
The reason why American citizens are confused as to why Ivanka Trump and his husband, Jared Kushner (who is also an appointed White House advisor) are part of the President’s entourage is that the whole trip is funded by the government – meaning, the tax-payers.
After posting a photo of her in front of the Taj Mahal on Twitter and Instagram saying that it is “awe-inspiring”, Ivanka was swamped with comments. Mostly are just asking her why she is there.
A former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations in the Obama administration, Alyssa Mastromonaco even made a comment. She asked, “Why am I paying for their 2nd honeymoon omfg”.
